Penn Staters for Responsible Stewardship Releases Checklist to Determine Validity of Freeh Report
July 12, 2012 —- When the University announced the hiring of the Freeh Group to conduct an independent and objective investigation to examine all aspects of the University’s actions related to the Sandusky case, Penn Staters for Responsible Stewardship expected the final report to answer specific questions of: what happened, how did it happen and why did it happen. Simple questions, simple expectations. We did NOT expect this to become a wideranging investigation into matters totally unrelated to Jerry Sandusky’s behavior. And we certainly did not expect anonymous, unauthorized leaks for which no one is being held accountable.
To that end, the organization has developed a comprehensive checklist of information that we not only expect — but demand — to be covered in the report, in order for it to be considered a credible, valid summary of the case, up to this point in time. Additionally, we recognize and believe in the absolute necessity to complete the judicial process before any final conclusions can be reached.
