In the wake of Penn State’s decision to join an appeal to keep secret more than 150 emails related to the BoT’s handling of the Sandusky saga, PS4RS supported Ryan Bagwell’s Right-to-Know efforts with a statement to the national media.
October 2, 2013 — “It’s discouraging that the very trustees who have pledged transparency are the ones now fiercely obstructing it,” said Penn Staters for Responsible Stewardship spokesperson Maribeth Roman Schmidt. “It would go a long way toward repairing the board’s rift with university stakeholders — including the alumni — if the trustees would comply with the court’s ruling and release the documents in accordance with the Right to Know Law. By the joining the appeal, Penn State trustees are back to stonewalling. This does nothing but raise additional questions about the trustees’ ability to lead, and therefore prevents us all from moving forward.”
Penn Staters for Responsible Stewardship with more than 20,000 members nationwide, was formed to effect positive change within the Penn State University Board of Trustees.
